Cannabis contains over 100 compounds unique to the plant called cannabinoids.

Cannabis has been used since ancient times to treat human ailments, and most of its medicinal properties are due to cannabinoids.

Of the cannabinoids contained in the cannabis plant, Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) have been primarily studied in terms of their content and medicinal effects.
